BULLETIN NO. 10

CORRESPONDENCE

The lesbians who participated in the First Metropolitan Encounter of Lesbians and Feminist Lesbians in Search of Dialogue in Mexico City declared themselves against xenophobia, the war in Chiapas, the privatization of education, electricity, national oil resources and archeological patrimony.

They declared they were in favor of dialogue between authorities and the General Strike Committee to resolve the five-month old strike in Mexico's National Autonomous University (UNAM), and in favor of a proposal for an anti-discrimination law for sexual minorities, both in Mexico City and at a federal level.

The participants demanded access to feminist communications media, calling on these to open up spaces for articles and images about lesbians. They also demanded that all media disseminate images that dignify lesbians and to cover the range of sexual diversity. The lesbians also said they favored the right of every women to freely choose her sexual orientation.
